What is SafePave?
SafePave™ is an engineered solution developed to overcome the key structural and safety challenges of pedestal-based floating tile systems. By bonding a high-strength reinforcement layer to the underside of each tile or paver, SafePave™ significantly improves load-bearing capacity, impact resistance, and overall safety—while remaining fully compatible with existing installation methods and pedestal systems. With a growing range of products, SafePave™ offers preventative and retrofitting solutions for both new and existing tile installations.
SafePave™ prevents damage to waterproof membranes, HVAC ducting, Power cables, plumbing or anything else under the tile.
Independent testing shows SafePave-treated tiles can reach roughly double the breaking load of untreated tiles.
A tile or paver can still crack, but SafePave will prevent the tile shattering and causing damage to people or property
A thin, easily applied, high-strength reinforcement that retains residual load strength after tile cracking and protects people, waterproof membranes and services.

⚠️ Injury risk
A broken pedestal tile can instantly turn into a fall and laceration hazard.
Feet, ankles and legs can drop into the void if a tile breaks underfoot.
Sharp edges from shattered porcelain cause cuts and abrasions.
On elevated decks (balconies, rooftops, podiums) falls can lead to serious head, back or spinal injuries.
Damage to subfloor systems
When a tile fails, it’s not just the surface that’s at risk.
Broken tiles can tear or puncture waterproof membranes, leading to leaks and long-term structural damage.
Falling fragments can damage drainage, electrical, HVAC and plumbing services running in the void.
Insulation, fireproofing and acoustic layers can be crushed or contaminated.
💸 Costly Repairs and Downtime
Fixing pedestal tiles is slow, invasive and expensive.
Repairing one tile often means lifting several adjacent tiles with a risk of further breakage.
Accessing damaged membranes or services usually requires specialist trades and scaffold or access equipment.
In commercial or strata buildings, areas may need to be closed off, causing disruption, complaints and lost revenue.
🧯 Fire Safety and Accessibility Risks
Failed tiles can compromise life-safety and accessibility obligations.
Missing or broken tiles create trip hazards on designated egress and accessible paths.
Debris and displaced tiles can block access to fire services, valves and electrical panels in the void.
Unsafe walking surfaces may breach performance requirements for egress and accessible routes.
📉 Legal and Reputational Liability
When a pedestal tile fails, someone is usually accountable.
Owners, builders and specifiers may be exposed to claims for negligence and failure to maintain a safe environment.
Injuries, leaks and repeated failures can trigger insurance disputes and higher premiums.
Visible failures on high-profile projects can damage reputation with clients, tenants and regulators.

🌟 Why Choose SafePave™
✅ Prevents tile breakthrough
✅ Strengthens and stabilises tiles
✅ Increases impact and load resistance
✅ Enables lighter, safer designs
✅ Protects membranes and under deck services
✅ Reduces breakage, waste, and cost

Like toughened glass, tiles used in a raised floor or decking application can shatter or crack with even a small impact in the right place. This leads to the risk of injury from the sharp edges of the tile, or even major injuries from someone falling through.
Why use SafePave?
Manufacturers of 20mm Porcelain recommend additional protection if the paving is to be installed over voids in excess or 100mm. A collapse of a single tile or a section of tile is dangerous under any circumstances. Even if the floor is only raised 100mm above the subfloor, that’s more than enough height to lead to sprained or broken feet, ankles, and knees. When the floor is suspended several feet above the subfloor, a collapse can lead to more severe injuries.
SafePave reduces these risks by laminating a high strength, anti-vibration, reinforced protective layer to the underside of the paver or tile. This layer is strong enough to support a weight of up to 2.8kN* even after the tile is broken.

SafePave can be added to ANY tile or paver, even natural stone, increasing the options available to you for your project. It increases the strength at the same time as reducing the sound transference through to the substrate.
Ultimately, SafePave provides a balance of performance, safety and cost-effectiveness that benefits every project stakeholder and future user of the tiled area.
How do I get SafePave?
Existing tiled decks or raised tile installations.
Accredited pedestal tile installers will come and lift the tiles, treat them and reinstall. This process can be done without major disruption, as each tile is lifted individually and immediately reinstalled after treating. (a very quick process) The tile treatment is undertaken in the area that is being treated, it is quiet and makes no mess. No need to close a business.
New Tiles, Option One – On site
Your tile installers can apply SafePave before or during installation. Application is quicker and easier than installing a centre pedestal. Simply clean, peel and stick.
New Tiles or pavers, Option Two – Factory treated
Have your tiles delivered to our facilities and we will apply the SafePave Structural Reinforcement to the tiles and have them delivered to site when required.
