Purpose

SafePave® Reinforcement Tape 300 (SPRT300) is an engineered tape system designed to retrofit existing pedestal tile installations. It improves impact resistance, prevents tile breakthrough, and reduces injury and repair risk—without changing pedestal heights or the surface levels of the existing tiles.

Problem Solved

• Tiles break under impact due to corner-only support

• Injuries, structural damage, and waterproofing breaches are common

• Current fix (Centre pedestal) is time consuming, expensive and ineffective

  • Another alternate method involves adjusting all pedestals and installing a tray beneath the tile. As it is not bonded to the tile, this can increase vibration noise and incidences of impact damage.

Product Description

SafePave® – SPRT300, is a pressure sensitive, woven fibreglass reinforcement tape with a modified acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive backing. It is designed to adhere directly to the underside of porcelain tiles, bridging cracks, enhancing load distribution, and holding fractured tiles in place. Supplied in convenient rolls, it can be used on any size tile. SPRT300 allows DIY or professional on-site, peel and stick application.

Performance characteristics

The flexible nature of SafePave® – SPR allows for some tile movement to assist with the absorption of vibration. The adhesive holds the high tensile material to the tile and prevents breakthrough. The material is strong enough to prevent sharp tile edges cutting through and any fragments will be held by the adhesive.

100% adhesion is important as it:

• Distributes load evenly and reduces stress concentration

• Enables the full system to act as a laminated composite, turning the separate components into one reinforced tile panel.

• Makes the whole system stronger and prevents tape shear

• Contains crack propagation. Cracks are bridged by the tape and held flat

Installation

1. Lift tile and clean the underside using Isopropyl alcohol

2. Peel and apply SafePave® - SPRT300 tape to tile back

3. Apply uniform pressure using roller

4. Trim edges

5. Reinstall tile

No curing required. On-site installation is possible without dust, mess, or delays.
