SafePave Structural Support - Elite

Safer raised floors - engineered reinforcement systems for pedestal tiles

SafePave® Structural Support - Elite (SSS-E) is a purpose-built structural reinforcement panel that bonds to the underside of brittle paving materials (porcelain and natural stone) on raised floor pedestals. It provides maximum support that includes a wind uplift control system, anti-vibration, thermal and acoustic insulation, breakthrough prevention, crack and impact resistance.

Why SSS-E matters.

Raised pedestal systems are engineered for accessibility, flexibility, and service routing, but they place tensile stress and impact loads on the underside of tiles — a known failure mode for brittle materials like porcelain, limestone, and granite.

SSS-E transforms a fragile tile into a composite structural assembly that resists cracking, distributes loads, and withstands long-term service conditions.

What SSS-E is

SSS-E comprises:

SafePave double-sided Reinforcing Tape (SPT2)
A double-sided reinforced bonding tape engineered for full surface contact with tile grooves and optimized for high shear at elevated temperatures. The tape incorporates 200gsm fibreglass fabric with microcellular IXPE to provide strength with flexibility.

17mm Composite PET and GFRP board
A stiff structural backing plate designed to distribute loads and enhance panel rigidity. The GFRP sheet is factory bonded to the tile ready for easy installation.

Bonded to the tile it creates a

  • Wind uplift control

  • Ability to use thinner tiles

  • Highest level breakthrough protection

  • Greater strength and rigidity

  • Increased anti-vibration

  • Acoustic insulation

  • Thermal insulation

System Components

Testing & Compliance

Tested to ASTM, ISO, AS standards
Compliant with:

  • ASTM D3330 (Peel Strength)

  • ASTM C648 (tile strength)

  • ISO 10545-4 (breaking strength)

  • AS1170.1 (structural loads)

  • UNI EN 12825 (impact tests for raised floors)

  • Additional tests undertaken for residual load capacity.

Installation Overview

SSS is engineered for simplicity:

  1. Clean the underside of the tile.

  2. Remove the SPT2 liner.

  3. Apply SSS centrally to the tile.

  4. Press firmly to ensure full adhesive contact.

  5. Install onto pedestal supports as standard.

No special tooling. No custom adhesives required.

Summary

SafePave® - Structural Support (SSS) is the only structural backing system for pedestal paving that:

  • Reinforces brittle tiles with a bonded 2mm Glass Fibre Resin Polymer sheet combined with a flexible microcellular foam and fibreglass cloth tape

  • Increases bending stiffness and load distribution across pedestal supports

  • Significantly reduces cracking and tensile failure risk

  • Improves impact resistance and breakthrough protection

  • Allows 20mm natural stone to be specified with greater confidence

  • Installs quickly with a peel-and-bond application — no specialist trades required
